How To Go With The Flow of Life
I’m fascinated by nature programs, particularly Sir David Attenborough’s Planet Earth which is by far the best I’ve ever seen. I’m always blown away by “how great Thou art”, the perfection of the design of nature and just how effortlessly everything fits together. I will never cease to be amazed by how plants and animals, on land, sea and air, assist each other in simply being and have all they need.Â
Now, don’t go quoting my take on the circle of life but on the African plains, for example, the gazelles graze on grass, the big cats graze on the gazelles, the leftovers are eaten by the hyenas or vultures, the carcasses provide nutrients to the soil which helps grass and trees to grow, which the gazelles eat and the cycle starts again. In basic science we learn that vapour from the seas and oceans rise up to form clouds that produce rain, which aids photosynthesis which enable plants to grow, which animals eat and so on. It all seemlessly flows and looks after itself, by shifting and evolving when necessary.Â
It has recently got me thinking, if we’re part of the same world, surely the design must apply to us too! We can’t be the only thing on this planet that’s not privy to the same rules of perfection. But we probably are the only things on this planet that fight, resist and control situations instead of letting them be. I dunno about you, but I don’t recall ever seeing an impatient duckling in a rush to turn into a beautiful swan or a sparse tree in the autumn clinging onto it’s leaves as it doesn’t want to shed them. Last time I checked, nature simply did it’s thing. The concept of patience or impatience doesn’t even enter the duckling’s head, it is simply a duckling and one day it will be a swan.  The tree simply goes through it’s normal process of shedding it’s leaves in autumn (or fall for my cousins across the pond;)), being sparse in winter and in full bloom in spring and summer. They all flow in the divine current, maintain their place in the great scheme of things and all their needs are met.
Us humans tend to overrationalise and intellectualise everything, which causes practically all of our human problems. A lot of spiritual concepts can be a struggle for people to grasp. When talking to your friends that aren’t into all that spiritual stuff, saying things like “you need to let go” and “stay present in every moment” can seem as helpful as a chocolate teapot!Â
In a world of egomaniac control freaks, going with the flow is unacceptable; people believe they’ve got to attempt to control every variable. Acknowledging that there is a higher power with a free flowing current that you seemlessly fit into and in fact enables you to get further in life with ease is pivotal to going with the flow. The reality is that we in fact obstruct this flow. If you are sick, broke, unhappy etc you are obstructing the flow. I’m not advocating being a bum and I wholeheartedly promote taking action, but you do not need to control everything. People that have successfully adopted going with the flow, take massive action but they are not attached to the outcome so are able to stay present, enjoy the ride and as result have greater success than someone attached to the outcome trying to control everything. Acting as the latter, leads to frustration, stress and general dislike of the journey - definitely not going with the flow!
My first awareness of the flow came after I started my spiritual journey and had been attuned to Reiki I. I started a business with ease, everything fell into place, people were bending over backwards to help us and we were consciously flexible, positive and dealt with whatever came our way with the same consciousness. One day we were interviewing Photographers in a bar and I went to the loo. I washed my hands, took a tissue to dry my hands and threw it into one of the toilets. Now, I threw it quite flippantly but I will never forget the way it curled into the toilet like a David Beckham free kick! I was like wow, that tissue wasn’t going anywhere near that toilet but I’m so jammy lately that everything’s going my way! On telling a Life Coach friend about this and other similar situations, she told me she called it in the flow, Oprah calls it the divine current, whatever it’s called I want to stay in it, life is great there.
We’re inclined to look forward or back and are rarely in the moment. Looking back can lead to feelings of bitterness, resentment and guilt; looking forward can lead to anxiety, stress and worry. Peace of mind comes from being present. If you don’t know how to be present the best method I’ve found so far is Easy World.
Just like the rest of nature, I believe we too have everything we need, it may not seem like that is because it hasn’t manifested itself to the physical level yet. We can’t see it but it’s there and to get to the stage where we can see it we must get back in the flow and reconnect with Source. It’s impossible for us to be the only thing out of alignment, which means it is our birthright to have all our needs met.  The difference between us and the rest of nature is that we seem to have to undergo a process to surrender and the rest of nature apears to simply surrender effortlessly.
I know we’re not exactly the same as other animals, due to certain capabilities we have (however animals can do things we can’t), but we were given a brain to use. To use doesn’t mean to eliminate all of our spiritual insights but to strengthen and compliment them instead. The fact that there are so many of us in consciousnesses of poverty and lack means we are not flowing like the rest of nature. How does the rest of nature flow? By surrendering to the flow. How do you surrender to the flow? By staying present in each and every moment.
Good luck…:)

Mind your own spiritual business:
[…] Another reason why it’s not good to interfere in other’s lives is because although you mean well, it’s not your path so you may not be the best person to guide someone as you do not know the bigger plan they fit into. Compared to God, we have a limited view of the world and cannot see into the future so our advice, which could have worked brilliantly for us, may not be for them. Even clairvoyants who can see into the future are particular about this. Also, we claim to trust God, let the universe unfold etc but whenever we get a chance we want to interfere. Let go and let God.
