Think differently …. about fear
I have been tagged by Tristan at Synergy Institute blog and my inspirational blogging pal Lorraine Cohen  to take part in the Think Different challenge. The Think Different challenge is a meme where paticipants are encouraged to write about looking differently at something that was previously viewed as a negative. Well typically of the divine flow, the timing is perfect as all the signs in my life are pointing me to think differently about fear.
Despite my recent post on embracing all of me and the good side of the limited mind, I seemed to have not included fear as something that is within me that could be embraced and have a positive outcome.  Also, I think my realisation of how fear has been running my life also made me shun all of fear as a negative low vibration that can only bring me negative low vibration things.
Despite all I have learned about being with emotions and watching them without judgement. All weekend I was carrying around this feeling that I didn’t understand and although I was being with it and watching, I couldn’t recognise it . I was doing all kinds of meditation to release it but it wouldn’t budge, not permanently anyway. After a couple of days of this I decided to find something to listen to that would help me. I’d been meaning to get round to listen to one of the Lorraine Cohen shows so downloaded her radio interview about fear with Ilene Dillon. While downloading I had doubts as to how useful it would be for my cuurent situation as I didn’t feel as though I was experiencing fear, but carried on as I knew I would get something from it.Â
Straight away I knew why I was to listen to this show, it was exactly what I needed. It was as if the universe was saying “Lola, if you want all you say you want, you’re gonna have to face this fear thing as that’s what’s in your way”. Thanks universe, I can be so deaf so thanks for being persistent with me.Â
Old thinking
I had a very simplistic view of fear - it was negative - end of!. Fear constricts, love expands; Fear is bad and it must be released when felt. As I am writing this now I realise that fear is something I couldn’t be with just as powerlessness was so have been avoiding at all costs. Through Law of Attraction, I viewed fear as a low vibration and I sure didn’t want the manifestations of that vibration around me! I thought that when I felt and recognised fear I must move away from it asap as otherwise it would spoil whatever I was trying to do.
Thinking about fear as 100% negative has kept me small and stopped me from experiencing and working through it. What you resist persists, so fear just keeps bothering me. Worse still, if you ignore it, it just keeps coming back and in unrecognisable ways. So, I decided to let the fear out, and feel and experience it.
I let it surface, I felt it all day and I just allowed myself to be present to it. It felt horrid, my stomach was twisted up in big painful knots but I allowed it to happen knowing (with my fingers crossed!) that it would pass. Knowing there is something on the other side that I want helped me to stick with it.
New thinking
A key prompter of thinking differently about fear for me was Lorraine Cohen’s radio interview and I am more than grateful for that, so I’d like to highlight my learnings from the show but would urge people to check it out for themselves too.
Fear can be a motivator
Sometimes we need a rocket up our a** and under other circumstances you may not feel suitably motivated. Anger can be available for you by experiencing fear.  This  can help you to push against your fear as well as further motivating and propeling you forward by expressing your staunch refusal to stay where you are.
Fear as emotion, nothing less, nothing more
As Lorraine says “We came here to feel, fear is one of those emotions. Its not good or bad, we have simply labelled emotions based on levels of comfort”.
Fear can deepen spirituality
Fear enables people to ask for help and to turn to God. Even non-believers when in the throes of fear will pray or ask for help. You need to ask for help to receive it as we do have free will. Sometimes God just needs to get our attention as we can be too focussed in a certain direction to see the earlier signals.Â
Fear as an awareness tool
Fear highlights our attention to what we need to be aware of and any limiting beliefs lurking around. While we continually ignore it as it feels uncomfortable we are not tuning in to the message it is bringing us. For instance, for me fear is currently highlighting that I have beliefs that are out of line with my conscious desires and it’s time to work on them at this level now.
There is so much available from thinking differently about fear. I know where my old thinking got me and it’s time to break out of that prison and experience what’s on the other side. Don’t worry I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, I would recommend checking out Lorraine Cohen’s Transform Your Fear Into POWER audio product  and find out what’s on the other side for you.

Lola,
Thanks for participating in the Think Different Challenge! You have chosen an excellent topic to think differently about. Funnily enough, I am listening to an audiobook at the moment called “Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway”. It is a great listen… but I particularly love the title of it.
Also, thanks for the tip about Lorraine’s radio interview - I’ll have to check it out.
Peter

Landmark Forum:
When we develop the courage to face the fear…. then we will be able to create success in whatever we do.
All kind of illusions need to be transformed to faith and if the reality is understood…. it will be the real motivation for overcoming fear.
A good article. Keep it up!

Personal Development Joe:
I like to think of it this way. Thoughts Cause or trigger emotions, emotions trigger feelings and fellings trigger vibration or sense of wellness. When I feel fear I sometimes dig down and say the though that created it. Sometimes it goes something like this: If this happens I will lose that. I then look at the “that” and wonder why I hold so tightly. If the same ‘fear’ persists I might reflect on why or what source the events that trigger the fear come from. Is it time to let go of something or offer it back?

Lola:
Thanks for all your wonderful and supportive comments guys…
Lorraine - Thanks again, you really kickstarted or gave direction to something that was going on internally. Honestly, I understand why you work heavily on fear, it must be truly rewarding. My work has continued past this post and I am manifesting much and I know it’s because of the huge block that I have removed. Better still, I now have methods of removing other fears or maybe the same ones at another level as they arise. Thank you ever so much and Happy Thanksgiving!
Peter - Thanks for the link and I agree with you, this is definitely one of the most important topics in the world to think differently about. Thanks for starting the meme, very timely, cathartic and beneficial for me to participate in.
Landmark - You said it in 2 sentences , wow how d’ya do that? ;). I feel so free and truly in the place of abundant possibilities - will definitely spread this.
Personal Development Joe - I like your style, I do something similar. There is such power in digging deep and seeing what’s really down there. I find that by going into it, I find the illusion that I am avoiding at all costs followed by peace and joy as it really is an illusion, it simply disappears.
Lots of love, light and abundance to you all.
Happy Thanksgiving too - it’s just a normal day here in England! x x x
