I love angels, work closely with their energy and as a result enjoy the many miracles they bring to me. I have written a couple of posts specifically on how angels communicate with us through numbers and judging from the feedback I am not alone in this experience. However, numbers are only one way angels communicate with us, there are many others.

Angels are what I am aware I have experience of however you may also receive communication from your guides, higher self or directly from God himself or the Universe. Either way, these messages are there to guide you for your highest good and always lead you down a sweeter, more fulfilled path.

Contradictory to those old Charlton Heston films, God doesn’t tend to come down to Earth and tell us what we need to know - where’s the fun in that! Instead, our prayers and requests are answered in many ways. Subtle messages are received through a variety of means and the more sensitive you become, the more aware of being communicated with you will become.


Here are 21 ways the angels, God, the Universe use to guide us for our highest good:

1. Synchronicity
A wonderful kind of coincidence, the difference being that synchronicity is not an accident, it’s all part of the grand design. A sign to show you are on the right track. Synchronicity is when things you need start to show up, you think of someone out of the blue and they appear, you fancy a doughnut and a friend shows up with doughnuts, you remember an old film and it comes on TV etc. The more you notice it and give thanks for it, the more it shows up. I love it, it’s so much fun!

2. Flashing lights
This is when you see a flash of light, a bit like a camera flash but bigger. Apparently this is when you catch an angel move from one place to another. I’ve seen this once and didn’t know what it was at first. I saw a big flash of light when I was walking down stairs in my Mum’s house and simply thought to myself “I definitely saw that, I wonder what that was” and in true synchronistic (no.1) fashion, the next day my sister had bought a book on angels that I was flicking through when I found out about the phenomena of angel lights.

3. Clouds
Some people report seeing angel wings, angels praying or some other kind of comforting angel shape in clouds during their times of need. I have been looking but nothing so far for me.

4. Messages through people, films, songs
I’m a firm believer that angels speak through people, films and songs. I received two angel messages that guided me to my path through two separate people. One of them wasn’t even speaking English but I got the message loud and clear. I had no awareness of angels then but knew I had received a message solely for me as the impact of the words were huge to me but not to anyone else who was present. Songs can also be clear forms of communication, again you’ll know when it’s for you. Whenever I experience a significant move down my path, I hear Whitney Houston’s “Run to you”. I know it’s a confirmation of my inner trust issues. “I wanna run to you and if I come to you, tell me will you stay or will you run away”

5. Nudges
Sometimes you will feel a sudden urge to call someone, go somewhere, not go down that road, take a different route home etc. When recalling that nudge to someone you may say “I don’t know why but I just felt like taking the bus instead of the train.” Sometimes it may save your life, sometimes it may save you time, other times you will not know what you have gained but listen to it.

6. Intuition
Our intuition is a gift that is not valued openly enough in society but is in fact more important than the rational mind. While watching Crimewatch (a UK crime show) once I was struck by how many people, “had a feeling” immediately about the person that eventually attacked them. Unfortunately for them they didn’t trust their intuition but hopefully will never question it again. Your intuition is your early warning indicator; it also allows you to quickly judge people, situations, circumstance etc. It is the early part of psychic ability and works like a muscle, the more you use it, the more it develops. I trust mine implicitly and make many decisions from there so strongly recommend it.

7. Smells
Angels communicate with smells. The fragrances of the angels are jasmine and rose. I often call the angels whilst out running for strength, stamina and enjoyment. There was one particular time when I was really pushing myself and called for some support and I received a strong smell of fresh jasmine almost immediately. I also get sent pine while running which is beautiful and really helps my breathing.

8. Feathers
I’ve often heard that angels leave you white feathers. I see a lot of these when out running too, say thank you for the support and guidance and carry on in the knowledge I am not alone.

9. Sensations
The more sensitive you become the more you become aware of the sensations of energy within and around you. For me it’s a tingling and a feeling of warmth, not of the heat variety. I also sometimes get a numb tongue.

10. Light headedness
This feeling of light-headedness is like some kind of head rush. It feels like the very early signs of fainting and is usually a sign that you need grounding. I get it when I’m writing and literally feel as though I am downloading information through my crown chakra.

11. Dreams
One of my favourites, you can receive a ton of guidance while you sleep. You don’t need to be a hotshot dream translator to work out what the dreams mean either. They are your dreams and your messages, pay attention to the significance of where you are, who’s there, how you feel, the mood of the dream etc. Recurring dreams especially are important guidance information you need to know.

12. Hearing
Some people literally hear their messages while awake, asleep or meditating. This is one form of clairaudience.

13. Seeing
Some people see their messages visually. It may not be a perfectly formed picture but all the same they are seeing. This is called clairvoyant.

14. Breeze of air
A fresh breeze of air is a sign the angels are around. I usually feel this when I ask for something, I can actually feel it as I write now – I hope they approve of this post.

15. Resonance and dissonance
For me I sense this almost musically. Resonance is a like a beautiful chord and dissonance is like a clashing of notes. When the angels are present or communicating I feel harmony, the chord. When I am off track I feel disharmony, the clash. This is different to comfort and discomfort as sometimes when I am uncomfortable I still feel in harmony.

16. Feeling of someone being with you
A feeling of being safe, looked after, supported and never alone. Sometimes it may feel like someone is at your side.

17. Animals
Messages may come through animals. Native American spirituality places great importance on animals and the meanings each one brings. During a stagnant part of my journey I saw a Jay bird, which I was mesmerised by but no-one else was that interested about it so I put it to one side. A few months later, I met a friend through work who loved birds so I mentioned it to her. She was also into Native American spirituality and told me the Jay signifies the bridge between heaven and earth and that they are a sign for proper use of your power. Jays go to dabblers, people who have a little bit of knowledge about many things but master of none. It was a sign to develop my gifts and I would have unlimited potential. I was being very physical and logical in my approach to life and the message was one of bridging the spiritual and physical in my life to give access to universal energies and power. This was a key moment in my life.

18. Body
I believe there is a whole host of undiscovered communication in your body. You need to just go there and be there. If you go deeper and deeper to your body you will reach a place where you access divine messages and your divinely inspired power. I receive life-changing insights and guidance from there.

19. Feeling of flow
Angels send you confirmation of being on track by the feeling of peace you feel when everything is just flowing for you and to you. Life is a magical joy and you feel pure happiness.

20. Meditation
This is a chance to still your mind and listen. The more you meditate the more still you become inside increasing the chances of receiving communication. Occasionally, I have these deep meditations where I go off somewhere. I don’t know where I go all I know is I’m aware when I come back but not when I leave and I am not sleeping. I suspect that I go somewhere for a recharge or extra knowledge as I always wake feeling fully integrated the following day. I like to think that I go to the realm of the angels receive something and come back.

21. Anyway you know it’s happening
There are many other forms of communication that you just know are a form of spiritual guidance. If you think there is a deeper meaning to something occurring in your life then there probably is. This is a personal thing between you and your Source, it’s no-one else’s business just yours.
